Joe Gills – “Mr. Showman”
Joe Gills is the creator, producer, and front man behind three of the region’s most dynamic live productions: The 1970s AM Radio Show by Jungle Habitat, The 1980s Action Park Band, and The Neil Diamond Traveling Tribute.
Each show is a fully costumed, high-energy, theatrical experience that brings audiences back to the eras that defined American pop culture. From the warm, feel-good hits of 1970s AM radio to the neon flash and attitude of the 1980s, and the timeless sparkle of Neil Diamond’s songbook, Joe’s productions deliver a night of nostalgia, laughter, and connection that feels like both a concert and a time machine. “I wanted to comeback to the stage as an entertainer, to make people smile at the times they had,” Joe Gills notes.
Before creating these themed shows, Joe made his mark in the 1980s New Jersey teen-music scene as the front man for the Jersey Cruisers, performing over 300 shows and appearing on the Jerry Lewis Telethon. In the early ’90s, he co-founded The Slap 5’s, an original country-rock act that played clubs across the New York City area, including the legendary CBGB’s.
After a long hiatus to raise a family, starting an internationally known baseball equipment brand, Joe returned to the stage with renewed energy — creating productions that blend music, costume, storytelling, and Vegas-style showmanship. Today, his shows are favorites at casinos, supper clubs, and festivals across New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Joe Gills notes, “It feels good to be on stage once again, there is still magic in the songs we do.”
